From the moment we arrived in the village of Entraygues-sur-Truyère, we were charmed by its peaceful atmosphere. The narrow historic streets, characterful houses and beautiful river views immediately made us feel as though we had travelled back in time. For children and adults alike, the setting feels like an open-air history book.
The castle, whose origins date back to medieval times, occupied a strategic position from which the surrounding valleys could be monitored. Even today, its presence recalls the historical importance of this region, situated at the crossroads of several ancient routes.
During our walk, everyone found something to enjoy. Some admired the architectural details, others photographed the landscapes or imagined everyday life as it might have been for the inhabitants and noble families of centuries past.
What makes a family visit particularly memorable is the contrast between the strength of medieval architecture and the gentle beauty of the Aveyron countryside. Your eyes naturally move from the ancient stone walls to the green hills surrounding the village.
